What makes these workshops work

Actual reporting scenarios

Work through situations you'll encounter on the job. We skip theory and focus on what you need to handle deadlines and challenging interviews.

Small group format

Limited enrollment means you get direct feedback on your work. We review your drafts and help you fix weak spots in your writing and interviewing approach.

Working journalists teach

Instructors cover sports beats for major outlets. They know which skills matter because they use them daily.

Build a portfolio piece

Each workshop ends with a finished article or project you can show editors. It's ready to publish or include in job applications.

How the workshops are structured

Each program follows a similar format with assignments that build on previous work. You'll start simple and add complexity as you go.

1

Week 1-2: Foundation

We cover the basics and establish workflow habits. You'll learn structure, sourcing methods, and how to approach different story types.

2

Week 3-6: Practice assignments

You work on short pieces with tight deadlines. Each assignment targets a specific skill, from interviewing techniques to writing under pressure.

3

Week 7-10: Full-length project

Pick a topic and develop it into a complete article. You'll pitch it, research it, interview sources, and revise based on instructor feedback.

4

Week 11-12: Polish and publish

Final edits and formatting. We help you prepare the piece for submission to outlets or your portfolio.
